It is amazing how much impact our words have to those that hear them. Our words have power over people regardless of whether we realize it or not. When I was young, people always said "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Oh how wrong they were. Words can bring someone down or lift them up, they can insult or encourage, they can bring death or bring life.
In tobyMac's song Speak Life he encourages us to use our words to speak life into those who hear our words.

The fact that our words hold such power to encourage, lift up, and bring life to those who are down should compel us to use our words for good. So the next time we want to gives someone a tongue lashing, we should choose our words wisely and speak life not death into those that hear.
